Ms. Darshana Tailor, who went from being a student to the Academic Head at JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Maharashtra, is an inspiration to any student who has been struggling to find their role in this competitive world. As a student she envisioned the learning process to be more fun, interactive, observational and exciting which led her to the teaching profession. She is committed to creating a classroom atmosphere that is stimulating and encouraging to students. Through her educational journey, Ms. Tailor has received many awards for Fashion and design. She was a presenter as Career Guidance Counselor for Bombay Cambridge School from 2013 – 2018 in their Annual Career Guidance Program which helped their passing students to explore various career options in all fields. In 2014 she acted as one of the judge in the Annual Talent Show of Nagindas Khandelwal College of Commerce and Economics. Having a Certificate in Garment Manufacturing and Fashion Designing from Maharashtra State Board of Vocational Education, Ms. Tailor has supervised and corrected many Papers for the Board. In 2018 she also designed uniforms for Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. Currently, Ms. Tailor teaches Fashion Theory, Design Thinking, Computers, History of Fashion, Fashion Psychology, Material Exploration and Yarn Craft. She has headed many efforts to expand the curriculum, create and run new courses and various workshops which are adaptive to students’ diverse learning styles.
She mentors students through their course and for their Annual Design Competition along with managing the day-to-day activities of the institute. She has a warm and friendly attitude towards her students, which gives them the space and freedom to explore and experiment who becomes next generation successful designers.
